The ACLU has released a new study on marijuana and American drugs laws, and it doesn't mess around: Billions Of Dollars Wasted On Racially Biased Arrests, the study is titled.
It goes on to list a few alarming statistics:
- - Of 8.2 million marijuana arrests between 2001 and 2010, nearly 90% were for simple possession.
- - Despite "nearly equal usage rates," black people are almost four times more likely to be arrested for marijuana.
- - We spend about $3.6 billion dollars a year on fighting marijuana, and with that money, have failed to reduce the amount of pot smoked.
In brief, the War on Pot is racist, expensive, and a failure.
