British Prime Minister David Cameron proposed military action in Syria but was denied by a Parliamentary vote on Thursday. Even without the support of America's closest ally, Obama has said he would consider a solo strike. Cameron said he will respect Parliament's decision and not push another vote.

Earlier this week, Obama had said that any intervention would be "limited" and that measures would be taken to avoid another drawn-out Iraq war.
