The term supermoon describes when a full moon comes closer to the Earth, making the moon look bigger. On Saturday, China and Australia had the best view of the closest approach to Earth we'll have this year. Even though the actual difference in distance is minimal according to scientists, there was an effect on the tides.
The next supermoon is expected on September 28, 2015 with the largest not expected until 2034.
