Obama's second trip to Africa during his presidency will also be his most expensive. Hundreds of secret service will accompany the president as well as military cargo planes, multiple limousines, fighter jets and bulletproof glass for his family's hotel room. The bill could rack up to somewhere between $60 to $100 million dollars.
The first family will travel from June 26 to July 3 making stops in Tanzania, Senegal and South Africa. They recently canceled a safari which would cost the taxpayers additional money. The travels are not just for pleasure, however. Obama will be discussing trade and investment in the second fastest growing economic region in the world.
When former South African President Nelson Mandela heard that Obama would be visiting his country, the critically ill 94-year old opened his eyes ands smiled, according to his daughter Zindzi.
