New Study: Most Americans Don't Care That The Government Is Snooping On You

A new poll asked Americans what they thought of the recent set of revelations that the government is tracking phone and online records -- and most think it's OK, as long as it's helping to protect us.

In the study, nearly half (45%) say that they think the government should be going even further than it is, monitoring everyone's online activity, if it would help prevent terror -- and well more than a majority (62%) are happy with the present PRISM program.

Support is still relatively bipartisan, but there has been a staunchly partisan shift: Now that Obama, a Democrat, is in power, Democrats are considerably more likley to support the government's intrusion for the sake of safety than they were under Bush. Republicans, similarly, are less supportive of the probes now that a Democrat is doing them.
