A metro station lit on fire in Moscow on Wednesday injuring 59 and evacuating nearly 4,500 commuters. With one of the busiest metro lines in the world, staff was ordered to shut down several lines while several trains were stuck up to 40 minutes in tunnels.
The blaze began when a high-voltage electrical cable lit on fire near the Okhotny Ryad Station, one of the busiest in the city, filling both the tunnel and station with smoke. The flames were put out quickly and the evacuation was complete within 40 minutes.
