Students in schools in Los Angeles will be getting a shiny back-to-school treat: a brand new Apple iPad. The LA school board just approved a $30 million program that aims to give every student his or her own tablet.
The program is starting with 47 schools, which is only a part of the LA school system, which serves more than half a million students. The Board has committed to spending hundreds of millions with Apple over the next two years.
The Deputy Superintendant Jaime Aquino says that iPads were chosen because they were the least expensive option and the highest rated among teachers and students.
