The centerpiece of the parade of horrors that is Ariel Castro's sentencing looks like a dollhouse. It's actually a to-scale model of the house where Cleveland kidnapper Ariel Castro held his 3 captives for over a decade.
In the final stage of the grisly Castro story, the kidnapper is in court to be sentenced. Earlier, he agreed to a plea deal that will land him life in prison plus a thousand extra years in order to stay off death row. Now, prosecutors are telling the stories of his victims in court in order to arrive at an exact sentence.
And they are horrifying. First responders, police and prosecutors described how Castro approached and kidnapped his young victims as they were going about their day to day lives, how he brought them to his home and his repeated sexual assaults.
Michelle Knight, Amanda Berry and Gina DeJesus are all represented in the preceedings, though it remains unclear if any will speak in person.
