Harry Potter Fans Love Dumbledore, Quidditch And Probably Obamacare

A professor at the University of Vermont surveyed 1,100 college students to see how fans of the Harry Potter book and movie series might differ from their peers in terms of politics. He found that they're a bunch of lefties.

Anthony Gierzynski published his findings in a book titled "Harry Potter and the Millennials: Research Methods and the Politics of the Muggle Generation." In it, he compared the impact of the series on millennials to that of other cultural touchstones like Star Wars movies' effect on Generation X or the Beatles on baby boomers.

In the study, Girzynski found that readers of the books and viewers of the movies were more open to diversity, more politically tolerant, less authoritarian, less likely to support deadly force or torture and more politically active.
