Harlem Shake v8

For anyone not following, let us explain.

The Harlem Shake is the latest viral dance craze that's fun for now, but is certain to teeter into overkill very quickly. Let's enjoy the moment of freshness, before Midwestern middle school drama clubs share their own productions, and Ai Wei Wei uploads his version to Weibo.

The dance became popular years ago. See this YouTube comp for a refresher.

Since Mad Decent released Baauer's Harlem Shake, there's been a resurgence of the move, but this time the world has YouTube.

Here are the key elements any self-respecting Harlem Shake clip apparently includes:

1. Baauer's Harlem Shake released by Mad Decent. Here's the music video and their own explainer.

2. Masks, to help ad street cred ( ...Guy Fawkes is so played out.)

3. Amateur YouTubers define "dancing" very liberally here-- mostly just move your body, try to be rhythmic. The next level is probably going to be a hit show, So You Think You Can Harlem Shake?

The vid above is pretty much how we feel about the fad.
