Guantanamo Bay Prisoner Photos From Red Cross

  • 09/11/2013 12:44 PM EDT U.S.

People can see the faces of Guantanamo Bay detainees for the first time now that the Pentagon has allowed the Red Cross to take photographs for inmates' families. Since 2009, the organization has captured familiar photos of the 164 prisoners smiling or posing as they would if they were outside the jail. The Geneva Convention forbid images to be taken of prisoners of war, but willing families shared the pictures with the Miami Herald for this first look.
