Attorney General Holder just announced that the federal government will not sue the states of Colorado and Washington to stop them from legalizing weed. The announcement contradicts earlier actions by the DEA, which has gone after medical marijuana in states like California, where its legal, claiming a need to obey federal law. Under federal law, pot is still illegal.
The announcement, part of a sweeping policy speech, came the same day that a global survey identified marijuana as the world's most popular drug. Despite its popularity, weed is the least dangerous. The highest drug related fatalities come from pills, like codeine and Vicodin, most of which are legal. So, maybe they're on to something?
