In one of a couple scandals unfolding this week, the IRS admitted that it's targeted given extra scrutiny to political groups on the conservative side of the aisle. The claims -- currently under investigation by the FBI in partnership with the DOJ -- suggest that under the Democratic Obama Administration, the tax agency played partisan, going after groups with words like "Patriot" or "Tea Party" in their names that were seeking tax exempt status.
In a statement earlier in the week, Obama said that allegations were still under investigation, but if they turned out to be true, that they were "outrageous" and the guilty parties would be punished. He insisted that the IRS needs to act in a transparent and nonpartisan manner, regardless of which party has control of the White House.
