Fast Food Company Growing Veggies Down The Road From Fukushima

A national fast food chain in Japan is partnering with local farmers to grow food for their restaurants. Sounds awesome, except that they’re growing that food just down the road from where the 2011 Fukushima plant melted down… and near where tons of contaminated water are leaking into the ocean.

The company, Yoshinoya Holdings, is planning to grow vegetables and rice in an area around 60 miles from the site of the meltdown. The Japanese government has deemed the area safe.
