Erin Brockovich Fought For Clean Water, Now Drunkenly Drives Boats Through It

Erin Brockovich became a household name when her story of fighting a corporation for polluting water became a major motion picture featuring Julia Roberts. Now, Brockovich is getting attention for a different reason.

The environmental activist was arrested on Sunday for operating a boat under the influence in Lake Mead, Nevada. Authorities were suspicious when Brockovich was seen having trouble maneuvering the boat into the dock. She was later found to be twice over the legal blood alcohol content limit.

Brockovich was released on $1,000 bail and has issued a public apology. "At no time was the boat away from the dock and there was no public safety risk," she said. "That being said, I take drunk driving very seriously, this was clearly a big mistake, I know better and I am very sorry." She added that the effect of the sun and not eating enough led her becoming more intoxicated.
