Eric Holder Calls Aaron Swartz's Suicide "A Tragedy"

Attorney General offers condolences to Swartz family, defends DOJ.

To the Senate Judiciary Committee, Attorney General Eric Holder called Internet activist Aaron Swartz’s suicide “a tragedy.”

Holder went on to defend the Justice Department's handling of the case against those who suggest the DOJ tried to bully Swartz into pleading guilty.

Holder detailed Swartz's proposed plea offer,

“There was never an intention for him to go to jail for longer than a three, four, potentially five month range.”
