Danish TV Confuses Syria With A Video Game
Nope, that's not actually Damascus. That's "Assassin's Creed."
A Danish TV station, looking for a way to illustrate the Syrian city Damascus, tossed up this image. Keen-eyed observers noticed that, while the image technically was a decpiction of Damascus, something was a bit off.
The image that the TV station used was not a photograph, but rather a screenshot from the 6-year-old video game "Assassin’s Creed." TV2 used the pic in a report on the ongoing violence in Syria. The screenshot from the game is Damascus, just Damascus as an artist imagined it looked 720 years ago.
Last year, the BBC flashed a “Halo” logo where the United Nations’ logo was meant to be.
