Did Google just kill Apple TV? Chromecast, unveiled today, is a little node that you can plug into your TV, switch the input, and start playing Netflix, watching YouTube videos, or whatever you want. It works on all smart phones, sounds easy to set up, and costs 35 bucks. We're sure there's a downside... just not what it is.
The device doesn't actually use your phone's batteries, will work for an Android, iPhone or anything that can get a Chrome browser -- and it works for any phone that's on your home's network.
The new dongle was launched today at the same event where Google broke out its new tablet, the Nexus 7.
