A tenant in a building in Zhejiang Province called the authorities after hearing the sounds of a baby crying in the water pipe in his building. Rescuers cut into the pipe and after a harrowing two hours were able to rescue an infant baby boy. The infant seems to have been flushed down the toilet in the apartment above.
The boy, a newborn with placenta still attached, weighs about 6 pounds and is currently alive at a Chinese hospital. Authorities are calling him Baby No. 59, and the hunt is underway for his parents.
