Times Square Was Boston Bombers' Next Target, Says Suspect

The Boston bombers were headed to Times Square with explosives, New York City's Mayor Mike Bloomberg said in a press conference Thursday. The information allegedly came from Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, who investigators have been interrogating in a Boston hospital.

The brothers reportedly had a pressure cooker bomb like the ones used in the marathon bombing a 5 pipe bombs with them at the time they were apprehended, bombs they planned to set off in New York City.

Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 2 brothers 26 and 19, are the main suspects in the bombing at the Boston marathon last Monday. Tamerlan, the older, was killed last week in a shoot-out with police. His younger brother Dzhokhar was captured after a city-wide manhunt and is currently being held in a Boston area hospital.

It was revealed this week that Tamerlan had been investigated by the FBI about 18 months before the bombing and placed on a terrorism watch list, but that no action was ever taken.
