A complicated aerial maneuver called a "human chandelier" collapsed at a Providence, Rhode Island performance by the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus.

The collapse was apparently triggered by the failure of the horrifically-named "hair-hang apparatus," which -- you guessed it -- suspends performers by their hair, according to Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey spokesman Steve Payne. Eight performers fell 25-35 feet, and another was injured on the ground. One was hospitalized and is currently listed in critical condition.
