About 2,000 pounds of marijuana washed up on a beach outside Santa Barbara, California, from a drug smuggling boat that washed ashore. The fifty bales of pot were discovered in the bushes near a 30-foot "panga" boat -- a vessel commonly used to bring drugs up from Mexico and Central America. The 50 bales of pot have a street value of about $4 million.
And, according to reports, this sort of thing is not all that uncommon -- huge quantities of weed show up on California beaches with some regularity. The Santa Maria Times reports that earlier this month another $1 million of pot showed washed ashore nearby.
