A US Marine opened fire at a millitary base in Quantico, Virginia, killing two colleagues, and then turned the gun on himself. The tragedy took place at the Marine Corps Base Quantico late Thursday night. The base was on lockdown for a few hours after the incident was reported, which ended early Friday morning. The shooter's motive and identity remain unknown, as do those of his other victims.
This is not the first high-profile shooting in Virginia. In 2007, Seung-Hui Cho killed 32 people and wounded 17 before killing himself on the campus of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. It is the deadliest killing by a single shooter in US history.
